This heaven for a cinematic soul is called the Film Festival, a mesmerizing concept where art combines with artists.
Within the heart of the dream city of India- Mumbai, these dreams flicker on the silver screen. A kaleidoscope of stories unfolds somewhere within the city and that somewhere is a place weaved with art which is none other than the Mumbai International Film Festival, a
collage where many beautiful documentaries, animation and short fiction. The festival recognises them as art and provides them with the exposure they need. MIFF or the Mumbai International Film Festival Is held biennially and is gearing up for its 18th edition which is going to take place from June 15th to June 21st, 2024 at the National Films Development Corporation- Films division complex. It is considered one of the oldest competitive film festivals for short fiction, animated works and documentaries along with award shows in the land of one the world’s largest film industries. Established in 1990, MIFF holds the title of being the oldest Film Festival to be held in all over South Asia which provides not only national film-makers with the exposure that they need but also international artists to showcase their work. The festival is organized by the Films Division of India under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Beyond the glamour of the red carpet and screenings, MIFF Provides a variety of experiences that includes special programs like retrospectives, tributes, student films, screenwriting and award-winning selections along with Film workshops, discussions and future collaborations which altogether add to the richness of the Cinematic vibe in the festival.
Documentary films are a big part of MIFF, which delves into the real world unlike their fictional counterpart and brings out all the untold and inspiring stories. Unlike the fictional world, the passion for documentary films often gets lost within the wide angle of the film industry and this is where MIFF steps in offering these lost movies the attention of film enthusiasts, critics and audiences.
