THE PRESENCE OF INDIA IS LOUD: 77TH CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

India marks its way towards its very first achievement at the 77th Cannes Film Festival together with Anasuya Sengupta becomes the first Indian to win the Best Actress award at the festival. Sengupta won the trophy under the nomination of the Un Certain Regard segment for her portrayal of the character ” Renuka” in her newly launched film “The Shameless” directed by Bulgarian filmmaker and artist Konstantin Bojanov. The movie portrays the story of a sex worker named Renuka who kills a policeman while fleeing from a brothel. The star makes the nation proud and creates history all by herself with dedication and hard work. Originally belonging to Kolkata, Bengal this Star came in full attire, ready to win hearts with her exceptional acting and so she did. She left none to compete with, as she surpassed all and brought back glory and pride to the country on her way back home. The media spotted her in the airport coming back from France and she says now that she’s back she wants nothing more Than to be with her family right now and wants to take a short break. We as proud Indians think that she other than anyone else deserves the break even more. Talking about Cannes many Indians proudly flaunted their elegance and it surely was a big year for India in the era of the Film Festival. Movie stars, directors and influencers, all of them together uplifted the nation starting from Aimee Baruah, Nancy Tyagi, Chaya Kadam and several others all with their own unique styles and statement pieces. The nation feels proud in the land of France yet again after the screening of “All We Imagine as Light” a drama directed by Payal Kapadia. Kapadia became the first Indian female director whose work got a chance to compete in the 77th Cannes main competition and was nominated for the Palme d’Or after 30 years since “Swaham” in 1994. Not only that she even engraves her name in the pages of history by winning the Grand Prix award at the closing ceremony for the first time. Her exceptional work follows the lives of two nurses who seem to be in equal chaos in their respective relationships when they decide to take a turn in their lives to live, fulfil and manifest their dreams. The cast was seen to dance in excitement on their way to the screening with full of pride and glory. On that note, Chaya Kadam says that she is very excited and proud to showcase art on such a platform and is overjoyed to Experience new little things.
