In the era of event films “12th Fail” is a breadth of fresh air. Based on the real life story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, “12th fail” is adapted from the best selling novel by the same name “12th Fail” written by Anurag Pathak.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra along with Jaskunwar Kohli, Anurag Pathak and Aayush Saxena wrote the film’s story for screen adaptation. Screenplay is crisp and it keeps you hooked up throughout the length of the movie. Writing ensures that the movie“12th Fail” doesn’t deviate from its core message.

Vikrant Massey who has previously worked in popular OTT shows like ”Mizapur” and “Broken But Beautiful” shines as Manoj Kumar in possibly his careers best role. The kind of innocence and vulnerability required to essay this role not many actors of this generation apart from him could manage. He is supported by other impactful and nuanced performances by Medha Shanker who plays Shraddha and Anant Vijay Josh. Primary cast members like, Anshuman Pushkar, Geeta Agrawal Sharma, Harish Khanna, Sarita Joshi and Priyanshu Chatterji keep the movie engaging throughout its length.

Cinematographer Rangarajan Ramabadran captures Delhi in its most vibrant and crowded form which is backed by music done by Shantanu Moitra.

“12th Fail” is a heartwarming story of how Manoj Kumar with his tremendous determination and will power cracks one of the most difficult exams in India to become an IPS officer.
